No, Franklin and Calvin are Will Smith and Martin Lawrence respectively from Bad Boys II

Of course!
Because I had such fond memories from watching the first one at 15 - and because of the references in Hot Fuzz - I decided to give the sequel a try a couple of months back, in spite of my Bay-related misgivings. I think I lasted about 45 minutes or something. I didn't even get to the "ish just got real" part! I know you're supposed to enjoy the spectacle of it all, and I really, really tried, but... [hangs head in movie-fan  for the second time in this post]

I don't see how you can hate Bad Boys II. I'm the last person you'd expect to enjoy it, and I loved it. It's just pure mindless fun.

I found it to be really slow.

I heard the Cartman version and Christopher Walken version of Poker Face before ever hearing the actual version. When I heard the actual, I wondered how the hell that song became popular at all.

Me, too. But then I realized I'm out of touch with mainstream pop culture a long time ago, and I'm pretty happy about that. They like stupid shit.

I personally love Lady GaGa because she is the greatest blatant whore our generation has seen.

That's too bad. Cartman's version was awesome. It's part of why I had to watch the episode a second time. That and hearing the Japanese yell "F*** YOU, DOLPHINS!!!"

And we've seen Madonna.

It's hard to convey tone through text. :(

Okay, I just listened to the Lady Gaga version. I actually like it. I like Cartman's more angry version more, but I like it.

Imagine a drunken, testosterone-crazed maniac describing all his favourite set-pieces from his top ten most bitchin' action movies evar, shouting in your ear and waving his hands in your face...

Now, I don't have any problem seeing that the film could be enjoyable, it's just that Bay's storytelling (oxymoron?) in the opening half hour of that film rubs me so wrong it kinda hurts. If I want a visceral, nonsensical, OTT thrill ride, I'll rather watch Crank. Or the original Bad Boys, even.

Things go boom, car chases and lots of gun fire then my friend you have the elements needed for an action movie...well for me anyway. I don't expect much from action movies or horror movies for that matter. They're pop corn fun and I just want to be entertained for my 90 minutes. What can I say? I'm easy.

Well, Bad Boys II was, like, 150 minutes, but they were all worth it.
