UPDATED EVERY MONDAY AND THURSDAY

(Requires Quicktime; you can also watch the Multiplex trailer at YouTube.)

Welcome to the Multiplex 10 Cinemas!

Multiplex is a comic strip about the staff of the Multiplex 10 Cinemas — a (fictional) theater located in an unnamed Chicago suburb — and the movies that play there. It is written and illustrated by Gordon McAlpin and has been running continuously since July 5, 2005. Multiplex currently updates twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays (with occasional bonus updates here and there).

The strip has a unique blend of humor, movie (and movie theater industry) commentary and criticism, and tongue-in-cheek melodrama. Because much of the humor is character-based, some familiarity with the characters helps to get the full enjoyment from newer strips. As such, Multiplex is best read starting — either at the beginning of Archives or Multiplex: Chapter 1 (requires Flash and a fast internet connection), which collects the first 24 strips in high definition, plus new, exclusive strips — sort of like Multiplex: The High Definition Extended Edition.

CHARACTER GUIDE

Kurt Kurt has worked at the Multiplex since he was 16. His taste in movies is... questionable.

Jason Jason has the greatest taste in movies ever (or so he thinks), and he's a complete dick about it.
