About the Comic Strip

Multiplex is an online comic strip about the staff of a movie theater and the movies that play there. It has been running continuously since July, 2005. Multiplex currently serves about 55,000 unique visitors per month.

About the Artist

Gordon McAlpin is a Filipino-American writer and cartoonist. He grew up in Peoria, Illinois, before moving to Chicago in 2001.

From 2004–2006, Gordon created Stripped Books, a series of non-fiction strips covering book- and comics-related events in comics form. Multiplex began in July, 2005, and is Gordon’s first on-going comic strip.

In addition to working full-time as a freelance print production artist for an educational publishing company, he also does a bit of writing, illustration, and photo retouching now and then, and, along with fellow movie webcartoonists Tom Brazelton (Theater Hopper) and Joe Dunn (Joe Loves Crappy Movies), co-hosts The Triple Feature movie review podcast every Monday night at 9 pm Central Time.

Gordon draws Multiplex in Adobe Illustrator CS4 on a Mac and happily endorses the Phantasm CS family of plug-ins. He uses Coda to update and maintain the Multiplex website and hosts the site on Slicehost.

Please feel free to e-mail Gordon with interview requests or other questions, unless you are a spammer.
