#385: Swearing Is Caring

August 17, 2009

Notes from the Manager

The movie in the comic is an absolutely brilliant British political comedy called In the Loop (apparently a stand-alone, big-screen version of the BBC series The Thick of It, which I am not familiar with).

The movie has been out in the US for about a month now, in limited release, but it should still be in theaters in all the major markets and slowly finding its way to smaller cities around the country. The specific scene Jason and Lydia are watching is early-on in the movie and can be seen in this clip from YouTube:

Trailer Watch: The Theory of Everything trailer

Friday, August 15, 2014

There’s no telling how the film will turn out, but the trailer for The Theory of Everything impressed me by having a respectably balanced focus on both the life of Stephen Hawking (and relationship with his first wife) and the work he is so admired for, unlike so many other film biographies of so-called Great Men.

James Marsh (Man on Wire) directs Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones in the November 7th release.
