The Multiplex 10’s largely absent assistant manager, Allen, was known to frequently surf for porn on the Multiplex's computers and delegate much of his work to the other managers below him.

When the truth came out about Brian stealing from the Multiplex, Allen covered up the amount of Brian's theft in order to make it look less serious.

Some months later, Gretchen wrote a sensationalized article about Franklin organizing a video game tournament after-hours using the theater's new digital projectors, in violation of company policy, whereupon Allen convinced Franklin that the Multiplex's corporate owners considered this breach of policy theft and fired him. Allen even tried to use the opportunity to (illegally) take money from Franklin's last check, however Neil put a stop to this by alerting the local projectionist's union.

Allen had filed a different termination form with corporate than the copy they'd kept on file at the Multiplex 10 — one with a much less serious reason for termination, presumably (as with Brian's termination) so that it wouldn't be scrutinized as closely by corporate. Unfortunately for Allen, Neil was onto him. After Neil learned that Allen had covered up the amount of Brian's theft in order to withhold his last paycheck for himself (in the same way he had done later with Franklin), he alerted the Multiplex 10's corporate parents' accounting department, and an investigation revealed other "irregularities."

Allen was "laid off" not long after.

Sometimes called “Angry” behind her back, Angie gets flustered easily under pressure, but is generally soft-spoken and keeps to herself. Since her introduction, she and Kurt seem to have bonded somewhat, perhaps due to a mutual love of zombie and horror movies. After her ex-boyfriend Midnight broke up with Angie because, as a Christian, she chose not to have sex with him, Angie began hanging out with the rest of the staff more, particularly Sunny, a fellow Christian.

In the spring of 2008, Jason and Angie started dating, and despite a rocky beginning, she seemed to have somewhat of a calming effect on him. But after Jason dragged Angie into a second major argument about religion, the two broke up amicably.

In addition to horror flicks, Angie also loves comics. While it was running, her favorite comic strip was Ali Graham’s HOUSD.

She started dating a guy named Duncan back in Winter 2009; they seem to be doing alright, since they're still together. Angie was promoted to Lead Usher in Spring 2010.

While filming the gang's zombie movie, Duncan and got engaged to be married. When Jason seemed evasive about congratulating her, she confronted him and in the ensuing argument, he confessed that he didn't think it was a good idea for them to marry at their age, which Angie took offense to.

At the same time, she was upset with the cowardly nature of her role in the film, which she thought was stupid and cliché. Not realizing that Kurt had written most of the script, not Jason, insult combined with injury to bring out another argument between Jason and Angie.

In the end, she quit from both the movie and the theater, but quickly found new employment as a receptionist for Hagen Animal Clinic. She remained on good terms with Kurt, Sunny, Chase and the rest of the Multiplex staff, many of whom attended her wedding in June 2012. Angie took Duncan’s last name (Yun).

After viewing the gang’s zombie movie, Angie quickly forgave Jason, and they are on good terms now. (She’s a very forgiving person.)

Angie wears purple contact lenses. Her eyes are naturally brown.

Angie 2 started at the Multiplex 10 in September 2010.

Kurt and Jason immediately recognized that the Force was strong with her (that is, that she could take orders and/or jokes) and quickly started taking part in their pranks.

Recently, Angie 2 has made Rookie the target for some pranking of her own, and he has tried — and failed — to get even, with his frustration eventually leading to a workplace accident. Sadly, nearly getting her eye poked out caused Angie's mother to forbid her from working at the Multiplex 10, and she was forced to quit.

She still keeps in touch with the Multiplex gang, and helped out with their movie by appearing as the first zombie in it.

Little is known about Ariela save that her… healthy figure proved a distraction for more than one man at the theater.

She hung out with Whitey/Dub for a while, and although he considered them to be dating, she claimed that they were only friends — despite a less-than-purely-platonic relationship. She did consider herself to be dating Max Cardeñas, then the assistant manager at the Multiplex 10, who was none too pleased when he learned about her relationship with Dub.

They evidently stopped seeing each other, as Ariela was soon accusing Max of picking on her at work, and she angrily quit.

Brian was first introduced to the staff of the Multiplex when he provided Franklin his winning entry in the Stupid Question of the Year Awards for 2005, but soon after began working at the theater and began dating Sunny. By all appearances, they were a happy, if slightly horny couple, but we soon learned that Brian cheated on her with Gretchen.

After Sunny and Brian break up, he professed his love to Gretchen, who rebuffed him, calling him "an idiot." Brian denied this, and to prove it, he revealed that he had been pretending to be stupid since he started at the Multiplex 10, in order to steal from the theater without suspicion. Gretchen sold him out, though, and he was fired. According to the December 2007 Multiplex Examiner, Brian was arrested and likely to be charged with a misdemeanor.

Since leaving the Multiplex, he has apparently stepped up his young criminal career…

Devi is known to have worked at the Multiplex 10 prior to her first appearance in the strip. At that time, she was dating someone and shared a minor flirtation with Jason. Back at the Multiplex the following summer, except single, they recommenced their flirtation and eventually began dating.

When Devi returned to school at the SVA in New York City in the fall, they continued seeing each other long distance. Devi returned to the Multiplex 10 again, in the summer of 2007, but Devi and Jason had a rocky transition back to a same-city couple and soon broke up, whereupon Devi quit the Multiplex 10 and decided to finish the rest of her summer back in New York.

Devi started dating someone a few months later. She returned to Chicago for an internship in the summer of 2008, but didn't drop by the theater very often.

Recently, after graduating from the SVA, Devi decided to move back to Chicago, to be near her family. Apparently single now, her and Jason started hanging out again… not entirely platonically, but called things off when Jason decided he wanted to see where things were headed with another girl.

They’ve remained close friends, however, occasionally hanging out or visiting classic movie theaters so she can photograph them. She gave Jason her old camera for Pancha Ganapati in 2009, in order to help foster his burgeoning interest in old theaters.

She works as the assistant to a wedding photographer. While photographing a wedding in January 2011, she met her current boyfriend, Rakesh.

Whitey’s father is a former funk & soul musician who married into a wealthy family with ties to the pharmaceutical industry. One of his former bandmates is the daughter of James Harris, the Multiplex 10’s security guard. Apparently this love for Black music was passed on to Whitey, who plays bass and is studying Music at Northwestern University. Whitey might take it a bit far, though.

At the Multiplex, Whitey and Lizzie spend an awful lot of time together, and he seemed to have something of a crush on his fellow stoner, but started dating Ariela earlier this year until he learned that she was two-timing on him with Max.

“Whitey” is also a nickname of sorts; it’s short for “Whitman.” Whitey long insisted that he goes by “Dub,” though no one besides Neil and Ariela ever called him that until the rest of the Multiplex 10 gang learned that he was in a funk & soul cover band called Higher Ground with three of his classmates from Northwestern — and that they were, apparently, extremely good.

Dub and two of the members of the band — Clyde and Hatterman — recently kicked out their lead singer/guitarist Dominic for being too lazy to learn new (or original) songs. They started a new band, Yo Mamma, which is now Dub’s full-time job.

Shortly after Gretchen began working at the Multiplex, she created the Multiplex Examiner, a monthly one-woman zine about the Multiplex 10 Cinemas and the personal lives its staff. Gretchen had a sexual relationship with Brian in order to get office gossip from him, but when his source dried up, she eagerly threw him to the wolves for a good scoop.

Gretchen has been cultivating Calvin as a new source of information — but she bit off more than she could chew recently by getting Franklin fired. The Multiplex gang (and some friends) conspired to fool her into printing a false story about Jason and Melissa having an affair, and Neil gave her the option of ending the Multiplex Examiner, being fired, or quitting (in exchange for a little dirt on Allen).

Gretchen chose Door #3 and called in a favor with Curtis from Flickhead Video for a job at the video store. She left after some time and is now a freelance writer.

A relatively new addition to the Multiplex 10 staff, little is known about Calvin at this time, but he has been seen to be a little gullible, and also somewhat of a prick about it when the boys at the Multiplex 10 take advantage of this for their amusement. After a seemingly out-of-nowhere dressing down from Jason, though, Calvin seemed to lighten up a bit.

Gretchen played on Calvin’s initial dislike of Kurt and Franklin and the boys by cultivating Calvin as a new source of information — but she turned him against her by getting Franklin fired and blackmailing him to continue providing her with info. He then successfully schemed with Melissa, Jason and Kurt to get Gretchen fired.

Ever since, he has gotten along with the rest of the Multiplex 10 gang rather well, but his closest friend at the theater is Jamal. He is still a little impressionable, though.

At some point in the last few years, Calvin left the theater and wound up working in the finance industry.

Chase was previously employed at an AMC theater before working at the Multiplex 10, leaving that theater because its staff was allegedly “uptight.” At the Multiplex, he spent his shifts hitting on the women of the Multiplex 10 almost indiscriminately, but he seemed to be all talk.

Chase had a field day on opening weekend for Sex and the City, what with all the beautiful ladies the film brought into the theater wearing their Sunday best, but after seemingly striking gold, Chase apparently got a pair of “surprise packages,” and his true colors started shining through (all seven of them).

He is very good friends with Sunny.

Jamal was hired in Fall, 2008. Apparently a lot of the girls at the Multiplex 10 think Jamal is hot.

He eventually left sometime in 2014, between strips.

Khady was born in Senegal and moved to Chicago with her family within the last several years.

She apparently made a quick impression on Norma, who promoted Khady to Shift Supervisor after just a few short months. She left between comics sometime in 2014.

The Multiplex 10’s resident Stoner, Lizzie had worked for the theater prior to her introduction in the strip. She knows all the corners and nooks in the theater that the security cameras can’t see, and can be frequently seen emerging from them in a cloud of smoke.

When Jason struggled with a short-lived bout with caffeine addiction, Lizzie was compelled to have soul-baring conversation with Jason, warning him of the dangers of caffeine addiction. Since then, she’s been seen partaking a much less harmful substance — marijuana.

When Evelyn took over as Manager of the Multiplex 10, Lizzie quit after learning that the Multiplex was not going to increase wages to match Chicago’s minimum wage increase.

Reed joined the Multiplex 10 staff in the summer of 2011, where he was immediately dubbed “Red” because of his hair color. (Reed is also an Old English name for “someone with red hair.”) He had a prominent cameo in the gang’s zombie movie. After his character was eaten, he joined the production as its “zombie wrangler” (babysitting zombie extras so they were on set when they were needed and didn’t wander around).

He was promoted to Shift Supervisor off-panel sometime in 2014, and left the theater for a Shift Manager position at a theater in Chicago in July, 2015 — much to Evelyn’s chagrin.

He can also draw pretty well and is helping Franklin with the graphics for his movie theater sim game.

Jillian and Letizia (a.k.a. Jailbait and Tease) both attended the same local high school until they graduated in Spring 2011. They are collectively referred to as The Twins.

Shortly after starting at the Multiplex 10, Jillian started gravitating towards Jason and eventually more or less told him that she had a crush on him, but Jason rebuffed her sort-of-advances.

Although she was planning on attending Chicago’s Columbia College in the fall(as a default, since it has open admissions), Jillian learned in April that she was accepted into the UCLA Film School.

Sunny met and started dating Brian around the same time he began working at the Multiplex. Brian and Sunny were discovered to have had sex in the theater, which made the headline of the inaugural edition of Gretchen’s Multiplex Examiner. When she learned that he not only had been faking his entire personality, but also stealing from the theater and cheating on her with Gretchen, Sunny flipped out and hit each of them. Gretchen declined to press charges, while Brian wasn't given the option to, in light of his own arrest proceedings.

Sunny was promoted to Lead Box Office Supervisor (or Lead Cashier) in Spring 2010, but moved to working part time when she started an internship with a social work organization, working with Far West (Chicago) kids with emotional and behavioral issues, and sometime in 2013 she cut her hours completely.

Prior to working at the Multiplex 10 Cinemas, Josh worked with Jason at Pizzeria Paradiso as a delivery driver. Kurt took a shine to his easygoing manner and soon brought him in to the Multiplex.

Josh left a few years later to be a bartender.

James Harris grew up on the South Side of Chicago, in Bronzeville. From 1951 through 1957, James worked at the Regal Theater in Chicago as an usher, before entering the police academy and becoming a cop.

After forty-some years on the force, he retired and moved to the north suburbs, but when his wife recently retired, as well, she forced him out of the house to get a job.

He has a daughter, who was, at some point in the past, in a funk & soul band with Whitey’s father. His son is also a cop.

His shifts were quietly phased out by Evelyn sometime in Fall 2015, but he continued doing contract security work.

Keith started working at the Multiplex 10 because he was acquainted with Kurt from school and shared his demented sense of humor. Keith was quickly trained as a projectionist, where he spent his spare time reading comic books (and books) in isolation.

Keith found himself drawn to the Multiplex 10’s resident goth girl, Angie, initially just being unreasonably jealous of her friendship with the other male staff workers, particularly Jason (whom she dated for a few months before they broke up amicably). He became increasingly unhinged until he finally passed the tipping point and roughly pushed Jason during one of the gang's horror-movie-style pranks, nearly breaking Jason’s nose.

The same evening, Keith also told Jason’s then-girlfriend Lydia somewhat distorted information about Jason’s caddish attitude about her when they had first started dating, prompting her to break up with him. Jason roughly confronted Keith about it, during with Angie overheard the two and angrily gave her would-be suitor a piece of her mind — but Norma, one of the assistant managers overheard enough of the conversation to feel justified in terminating Keith.

Amy has worked at the Multiplex 10 for several years and was promoted to shift manager sometime in late 2006. She complains. All. The. Time.

She was promoted in Assistant Manager in Fall 2014.

After Kurt and Jason learned that Amy was telling newer employees to clock out for their paid breaks (incorrectly), they helped several workers submit complaints to the Department of Labor, and Amy was fired.

Sarah has several years at other Feature Cinemas movie theaters before moving to the Multiplex 10. She was mostly stuck working the slower day shifts and seen as a bit of a pushover.

In early 2014, she was moved over to the Naperville 14. Sometime in early summer of 2015, however, she left the chain to help a friend open a boutique.

Sarah is 30-something.

After Allen’s unceremonious departure from the Multiplex 10, their theater chain’s home office dispatched Norma to replace Allen (albeit a few months later). She characterized herself as a “change agent,” and took her job very, very seriously.

She is married and has two children — Monica, who is in her early 20’s, and a high school-aged son, Matt.

Initially posted there as a floater (a temporary assistant manager), she was soon promoted to head manager of the Multiplex 10 in March 2010.

She reports to Randall Hasselbeck, the Midwest Regional Manager of Feature Cinemas (the chain that operates the Multiplex 10).

Previously the manager of the Fort Wayne Feature 6, Evelyn became the general manager of the Multiplex 10 Cinemas in May 2015.

She resigned one year later, after learning that the theater had been planned for sale or closure since before her tenure as GM.
